Music collective Conexão Berlin releases a new album Vagabundo on April 19, 2024. The band represents groove-heavy, sensual instrumental music somewhere between jazz, South American sounds and more, linking sophistication and emotional power, spirit and body in a completely idiosyncratic sonic language.

The founder of the ensemble is Berlin-based percussionist Andreas Weiser. Over many years of staying and touring in Brazil, he has established himself as a messenger between the rich South American-Brazilian traditional instrumental music and contemporary jazz of recent decades. His encounters include renowned musicians such as Paulo Moura, Dom Um Romão, Jorge Degas, Rogério Souza, Bocato, Rowney Scott, Gabi Guedes, and many more.

For his project, Conexão Berlin, Weiser has gathered an illustrious crowd that perfectly embodies the scope of his music. This is showcased on stage as well, where the band is continually proving itself with its grooves, nifty melody lines and harmonies, and outstanding solos – for example in 2018 during a 2 ½ weeks tour in Brazil.

The debut album produto importado, released in 2017, was nominated for the quarter-yearly Schallplatenkritik prize and was CD of the Week at NDR Info, and parts of the concert were broadcasted by arte Concerts Late Summer Jazz.
