The Rooster Davis Group, hailing from Canada, creates a fun and highly danceable mix of New Orleans jazz and blues that makes it hard – if not impossible – for any audience to resist. Heavily influenced by the likes of Dr. John, Allan Toussaint, Professor Longhair, and Harry Connick Jr., Rooster’s music has all the bounce and drive the music of New Orleans is known for, and is just as energetic for the audience to experience as it is for the musicians to play. Rooster’s philosophy is to deliver a dynamic performance with a high level of musicianship and respect for the authentic New Orleans piano tradition, and as a result has been successful in all types of venues from folk to jazz and blues.

David Aide aka Rooster Davis is an Edmonton based freelance piano and Hammond organ player. As an organist David has appeared on many albums and tours as an Americana, country, soul, and blues player. He has seriously studied the Hammond organ, having worked in this regard with highly acclaimed musicians including Hawksley Workman, country star Adam Gregory, Adam Cohen, Americana/roots artists Jack Marks, James Murdoch, The Wheatpool, and soul/folk songstress Ann Vriend (see photos).

Rooster’s most recent performance was at the Edmonton International Jazz Festival, where he played to a sold out crowd and was joined on trombone by the musical director of Esperanza Spalding’s band, Jeff Galindo.
